Hi, I need to renew this blog and bring it up to date! When I last commented (2 years ago!), I was still doing pattern designs. Last year, I took 4 workshops with 3 great artists:
Mary Carol, Dee Kirkham and 2 with Elizabeth Robbins. I found my new goal!
I am now painting still-life in oils and I love it. I feel like I am returning to my art school training and it is a good feeling. I have been faithful and trying to paint at least 5 days a week. That doesn't mean I paint all day each time..at least several hours. Then it is time to let the paint dry....and begin thinking of a new work to be done.
I wanted to start my portfolio, but, I ran into a large problem...trying to get a good photo of each painting! My little "shoot and go" digital cameras were not doing the job.
I bit the bullet and bought a Nikon SLR D3000 and I love it. I am having a ball. The sharpness is amazing and the pictures are actually straight. LOL
In January, three others of my paintings were accepted in the Laguna Art Group, Laguna, California. They were only taking a few new artists and I was selected! Yahoo! It is mostly online advertizing along with several in the magazines.
One of them will be on the full-page ad along with 5 other artists in the April issue of the Art Collector! I am SO excited for that! I can't wait to see it.
I will begin posting the 3 small still life I recently submitted for the "Randy Higbee Gallery 6 Inch Squared Exhibition and Sale " for this month.
